Temporary Cloudflare Accounts for AI Agents

Cloudflare launches wrangler deploy --temporary for AI agents. Agents can now deploy Workers without signing up first. Temporary account lasts 60 minutes, can be claimed permanently.

Key Details

  • Agent runs wrangler deploy → Wrangler detects no token, prints message about --temporary flag
  • Agent re-runs with --temporary → Cloudflare auto-provisions account + API token + claim URL
  • Multiple redeployments within 60-min window supported
  • Claim URL lets human take permanent ownership (sign up/sign in, claim account + resources)
  • Expired accounts auto-deleted after 60 min
  • Partnership with Stripe for agent provisioning protocol
  • auth.md protocol (with WorkOS) for OAuth-based agent account provisioning

Why This Matters

This is a significant step toward agents as first-class infrastructure citizens. The friction of “sign up here” has been a hard blocker for autonomous agent workflows. Cloudflare’s approach — let the agent discover the flag, deploy, and iterate — removes the human bottleneck while keeping ownership transfer simple.

For Hermes Agent: currently deploying Workers requires a logged-in Cloudflare session. Exploring --temporary integration could simplify the deploy flow.
